The conference aimed on strengthening the dialog between Science, Practitioners and Consultants, analysing experiences made and pointing out strategies for the future. The FTVI is hosted by the Fachausschuss Verwaltungsinformatik der Gesellschaft für Informatik every two years.

For 2010 the motto for both FTVI and FTRI was: "Networked IT for an effective state".

The conference participants included experts in science and practitioners and consultants of public administrations.

DERI in the space of 5 years has already achieved a remarkable record in FP6 projects, such as the recently successfully completed DIP project, coordinated by DERI. DERI is a core partner in several other ongoing and completed EU FP6 projects such as Knowledge Web (NoE), ECOSPACE, NEPOMUK, ASG, EASTWEB - Asia Link, SemanticGov, SUPER, and TripCom. In addition DERI is now a participant in a number of FP7 projects: OKKAM, Romulus, FAST, PECES, CONET
In particular, the eLearning cluster at DERI has the goal of researching and advancing the state of the art in eLearning, with particular emphasis on the application, and use, of semantic technologies. The cluster is developimg a mechanism for moving advanced technology into the commercial sector where vendors can derive tangible benefits from their association with DERI and NUIG.

Another outcome of the work in the EAtrain2 project is a publically available online bibliography representing the outcomes of the literature review conducted in relation to Work Package 2. The public online bibliography is available at:http://www.zotero.org/groups/eatrain2/items

Moreover, a number of teaching and learning practices related to active, problem based learning, web 2.0 and EA-training have been developed. These have been uploaded to Methopedia.eu (http://methopedia.eu ). Methopedia is a wiki-based community for sharing learning designs and resources and it has been developed as part of another LLP-project called COMBLE (http://comble-project.eu/ )

Another key activity has been the planning and running of a design workshop during a project meeting based on the CoED method (Collaborative   E-learning Design Method)  (http://www.ell.aau.dk/fileadmin/user_upload/documents/publications/ell_publication_series/Collaborative_e-learning_design_method_no._12.pdf ).
The CoED method has successfully been used a number of times in relation to helping practitioners develop online or blended learning courses. The  CoED method utilises a number of cards and a tool for generating these cards is available from: http://www.ell.aau.dk/coed

Through networking and discussion on the project with participants the project succeeded in raising participants' awareness in the Cedefop conference “Qualifications for lifelong learning and employability” that was held in Thessaloniki (GR), UOM.

The key stakeholders are relevant to lifelong learning and to qualifications definition and validation, international level.

The summit brings together key stakeholders of the Knowledge Society development worldwide, from Academia, Industry, Government, Policy Makers, and active citizens to look at the impact and prospects of the Information Technology, and the knowledge-based era it is creating, on key facets of living, working, learning, innovating and collaborating in today’s hyper-complex world.

Around 60 persons attended the conference this year.
